Professional Landscaping Services
Finding the right landscape architect, landscape designer, or landscape company can be a tough decision. The best approach is to check their web site first. Their web site is their business card. If it's neat and professional, done in an appropriate style with information on how the company approaches their work, this gives you a good idea as to the quality of work they'll deliver to you.

Professional Training
Alabama Nursery and Landscape Association at Post Office Box 9 Auburn, Alabama 36831-0009 (334) 821-5148 |
Landscape Architects must have extensive training in horticulture, engineering, and architectural design. Architects most often have to pass the Landscape Architect Registration Examination. The Landscape Architect Registration Examination (L.A.R.E.) is designed to determine whether applicants for landscape architectural licensure possess sufficient knowledge, skills and abilities to provide landscape architectural services without endangering the health, safety and welfare of the public. Portions of the LARE exam are administered by state and provincial registration boards or by CLARB in regional testing centers. Local government agency web sites and landscapers associations can help you the training and education requirements are necessary and direct you to qualified and licensed landscape designers in your city. Ask your landscape architect about their training and credentials and verify them.

Landscape Design
There are so many creative landscaping ideas that touch on many aspects of your property. From fence ideas that involve brick or wood, pathways that use flagstone, concrete, and brick paving stones, gardens filled with ornamental trees, herbs, flowers, and grasses, hardscaping elements such as walkways, deck and pool surroundings, retaining walls, waterfalls, footbridges over creeks, ponds, stone patios, and more. Your property and home are unique providing many unique possibilities as well as presenting limitations on what can be done. Your landscaping makeover can be part of a revitalization of your entire home. It's a difficult decision whether to do home renovation or landscaping, however, landscaping is probably not one of those things prospective home buyers anticipate. Landscaping your property in a tasteful fashion that brings it to life is a big home selling asset.
Owning a pool, hot tub, patio, gazebo, and having a pond, creek, or grade on your property may or may not be an asset. The determining factor in the value of these features is how they look. If the landscape around them is rough, wild, with poor drainage and is exposed to wind and rain, you can see how people might not find them attractive. At that point, they become an eyesore, and even the residents of the home may not use them. Left in a state of disrepair, they become a psychological drain, almost shunning people from their home property. If you're selling your home this year, you need to beautify any and all assets your property possess. Have a landscape designer review your site and you'll begin to see the possibilities.
